If the guide beneath doesn't work for you, see boosted instructions at the cease.
This seems to exist a huge problem for many users...location services not working when the Google Play store is installed. I have found a manner to install the Play Store without breaking location services. Notation: You lot don't need to install these Google APKs every bit system applications, but information technology does help a lot. So if you own an Hard disk 8, you can perform all of the steps below by installing the 4 APKs as regular applications. Just follow the aforementioned steps without using any root applications.
WHAT:
When you get to settings > wireless > location services and toggle it on, you lot are using Amazon's location services. When the Play Shop is installed on the Hard disk x, sometimes Google's location services doesn't kicking on. The reality is, the services Practice plow on, only when doing and then, creates a conflict in the system. This is due in part to Amazon redirecting fragments of the internal settings. Since installing the Play Shop disables Amazon's services, if Google's doesn't take over when you install the Play Shop, you don't have whatever location services period. Although my rewrite of the settings fragment in FireTabletSettings.apk redirects the setting back to AOSP, the toggle is useless if Google never asks you to use their location services.
HOW:
For the by week, I have tested this method over and over and over, as wells as others, and the gear up method I will be guiding you through, has worked every single time. Alarm : Y'all will need to start from a freshly installed version of FireOS. Make sure you accept rooted your tablet and so you can DISABLE OTA

4. Then become to settings > wireless > location based services > brand sure services are turned ON.
5. Download and install a file manager similar Full Commander. In Total Commander, from the home screen, tap on Internal storage. Install the Google APKs past borer them, IN THIS Gild SPECIFICALLY:
one. com.google.android.gsf.login_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI21(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
2. com.google.android.gsf_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI22(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk

six. Once all the APKs are installed, open up the Play Store and sign into your business relationship and IMMEDIATELY go to settings and Plough OFF auto-updates and so close the Play Store and reboot your tablet. In one case rebooted, if needed, the APKs will start to update.
7. When the tablet boots, tap on settings > wireless > location based services. If you followed instructions earlier and toggled this setting on, good job. Now turn it off and await well-nigh xv seconds and turn information technology back on.
viii. You may get a pop-up window request you to hold to the apply of Google Location Accuracy/Services. Yous MUST TAP AGREE.
viii. From your domicile screen, tap the Google Settings icon then Location. You MIGHT get a pop up saying something similar: "In a previous version of Google, you turned off location history. Practise you desire to turn it dorsum on?" YOU MUST TAP Yeah.

xi. Tap the 'location_providers_allowed' setting then tap 'edit value' and in front of 'network' add together the text 'gps' (without the ') and separate the two with a comma, just no spaces and tap save. The value should now await like this:

Honey your piece of work, long fourth dimension reader but never really needed to mail service as I've generally read out of interest and my one-time trusty Samsung tablet has been serving it's purpose. As my Samsung tablet has at present aged and I'm putting it to rest (R.I.P.), I've acquired a few Burn down Hard disk drive ten tablets (one for me and 1 each for my parents). Trouble is that subsequently installing Google Play, am not able to utilize information technology with GPS software (like Sygic). I've tried the procedure listed here on a fresh tablet and also past reflashing to stock my tablet, but does not seem to become working.
Following your procedure stride-past-step, there is no indication that the Play Store files gets updated and no popular-ups similar the ones shown at step 8 and onwards...
Questions:
1. Is there an indicator to evidence that the Play Store files are being updated?
2. Is the pop-upwards window (indicated at step 8) e'er suppose to occur when nosotros complete this step?
3. Exercise nosotros need to install your APK'south for the updated framework and the systemconfig updates from you earlier this will work?
Finally... Thanks for your groovy work and yous're definitely a very large contributor to this community. Thank you.

Crawly...!Love your piece of work, long time reader but never actually needed to mail service every bit I've generally read out of interest and my old trusty Samsung tablet has been serving information technology'south purpose. As my Samsung tablet has at present aged and I'g putting it to rest (R.I.P.), I've acquired a few Burn down Hd 10 tablets (one for me and one each for my parents). Problem is that later on installing Google Play, am non able to use information technology with GPS software (like Sygic). I've tried the process listed hither on a fresh tablet and as well past reflashing to stock my tablet, but does not seem to get working.
Post-obit your process step-by-pace, at that place is no indication that the Play Store files gets updated and no pop-ups similar the ones shown at step viii and onwards...
Questions:
1. Is there an indicator to prove that the Play Store files are beingness updated?
2. Is the pop-up window (indicated at step 8) ever suppose to occur when we consummate this step?
iii. Do we demand to install your APK's for the updated framework and the systemconfig updates from yous before this will work?Finally... Thanks for your great piece of work and you're definitely a very big contributor to this community. Thank you.
ane. There may not be an indicator.
2. If yous turned location services on prior to installing the 4 apks , it should show up every time when you lot toggle it off then back on. I've done this more times than I care to acknowledge and in each case the fort box pops upward every time. The second 1 may only pop upward when you lot've previously turned off location history. Also brand sure to sign into play store expect a few minutes and then toggle location off then on. Might need to clear information of 4 apks and try again though. I don't know what Amazon made this such a pain.
.
three. No. This guide it not related to any of my mods and housing need any other special APPs for this particular guide.
Side note: the GPS fleck in these devices is non active. It does exist, merely according to the .mk file, was deactivated in the kernel. That's why Android Os has AGPS integrated into their framework (in case a device doesn't fully support gps).
- #v
Anyways, I did another reflash to stock and reinstalled the Play Store APK'due south and monitored the versions. The updates never happened and I tried to forcefulness an update by pressing on the version number (in settings) a few times. But after a few hours of withal not updating, the Play Store never updates and hence I tried a clear cache and articulate information for the Play Shop apps. This then actually allowed for the update to progress after logging in again adjacent. Hopefully this helps anyone else that gets stuck with the same.
DragonFire1024 - One more favour, can you try and install Sygic and encounter if the GPS locks or not? I've tried on the 3 devices here and I'1000 non sure if I've only done something wrong and hence the GPS is not locking or if Sygic simply isn't able to use AGPS equally the GPS source and isn't able to lock since the other parts of the GPS modules are non active? Thanks in advance.
As well, if you accept any GPS apps that you lot could recommend with on device maps, that'due south the but criteria I accept left that I demand to get working for my parents.
Thanking you.

I had to practise a non-root rewrite after running into some issues. This should work on the HD 8 as well.
And then, if I sympathize correctly, nosotros can follow the instructions without a rooted device?
Besides, you indicated that we take to start with a fresh install of Fire Bone. This is no longer the example with my device, and I'chiliad just trying to fix the location services. I can observe instructions on rooting the device (which I don't want to do unless necessary) and I tin can find copies of the Burn Bone images, merely I've failed at finding instructions on how to install the stock FireOS epitome. My device is a Fire HD 8 (2017). If you can point me towards a thread with what I need, it would exist profoundly appreciated.
Thanks!

And then, if I empathise correctly, we can follow the instructions without a rooted device? Also, you indicated that we accept to start with a fresh install of Fire Os. This is no longer the instance with my device, and I'thousand just trying to prepare the location services. I can find instructions on rooting the device (which I don't want to do unless necessary) and I can find copies of the Fire OS images, but I've failed at finding instructions on how to install the stock FireOS paradigm. My device is a Burn HD viii (2017). If you tin can indicate me towards a thread with what I demand, it would be profoundly appreciated.
Thanks!
I cannot help with location services just as far as I know you lot CANNOT root an hd8, its not possible with locked bootloader. Only hd10 can gain root, and so possibly the better question is to ask if this can be done on an hd8
- #8
So, if I understand correctly, we tin follow the instructions without a rooted device?Too, you indicated that we take to showtime with a fresh install of Fire Bone. This is no longer the case with my device, and I'm merely trying to fix the location services. I tin can observe instructions on rooting the device (which I don't desire to do unless necessary) and I can observe copies of the Fire Bone images, simply I've failed at finding instructions on how to install the stock FireOS image. My device is a Burn HD 8 (2017). If yous can point me towards a thread with what I need, it would exist profoundly appreciated.
Thanks!
Mill reset for an Hard disk 8 then follow this guide. This should piece of work on all Amazon tablets. I have a Fire 7, HD viii and 10. Works on all three, rooted or non.

- #eleven
Then I tried to follow your instructions, but I was non able to get Google location services working. At least I don't retrieve and then. I never saw whatever popular ups asking me to agree to the use of Google Location services. It is probably operator error on my part. Here is what I did by the steps you accept:Yep you will still take 5.half dozen.2.0. Earlier a reset, articulate the data of and uninstall the four APKs and so reset. Install the APKs from the guide linked in my OP. Install them as is and do not download the updated versions. Brand sure location services are on earlier installation.
I first cleared data from and uninstalled the four APKs. Then I fix the tablet back to factory default. I am attempting this without rooting.
1. The thread y'all linked to said that newer versions of Silk could be used to install the APKs, so I didn't download them to my PC. I used Silk in step 5.
ii. I enabled programmer options and enabled ADB. Did non move APKs considering they are non on my PC every bit stated in step 1.
three. And then hither is the offset place I wasn't certain exactly what to do. Your instructions are to go to Settings | Wireless | Connect to Wifi. However, since I reset my tablet back to Factory Defaults, the outset screen is to fix language and so the next is to setup Wifi. I had to connect to Wifi to proceed, and then I did. The adjacent screen says it found like xi system updates. Wasn't sure what to do with them, so I allow them be installed. The next screen wanted me to register, so I did that. The next screen has to do with restoring a fill-in which I skipped. The adjacent screen has 4 options, one of which is Enable Location Services. I unchecked that (simply checked it again later in Pace iv). The next two screens had to do with suggested apps which I skipped. The one after that introduces Show Mode, a demo that I had to let run. Later on that is a Fire tutorial which I skipped. Side by side was an intro to Alexa hands free, which I was not able to skip.. I allowed Alexa easily free. Finally after all that I was at the dwelling house desktop screen! From there I launched the Appstore app and disabled automatic updates. Whew! And not exactly what was in your Step 3.
4. Did Settings | Wireless | Location based services and enabled information technology
5. Used Silk to download and install each APK in the order listed. (Downloaded one, installed, went to the adjacent)
6. Launched Play Store, which did start ok, and after signing in turned off automated updates. Could not tell if the 4 APKs updated.
7. Did Settings | Wireless | Location based services disabled it, counted to xx and enabled information technology.
No pop up
8. From Domicile Screen launched Google Settings. One time I got the pop upwardly. Another time I did not.
At this point I installed Youtube Boob tube and information technology nevertheless said unable to determine location. Other apps similar weather and maps did detect my location so I assume some kind of location services is running. I disabled location services for weather, then launched weather again and got a dialog saying it needed location services. It did non expect similar the Google popup so I guess it was nonetheless the Amazon service.
So, my experience didn't quite friction match upwardly with your instructions. I tin can encounter in a couple places where I could make it friction match more closely, simply there were a lot of things in Step 3 that I wasn't articulate nigh. Any ideas?
Thanks, Frank

I have a new Fire HD x (2017). I installed Google Play Shop earlier seeing this thread. I want to use YoutubeTV but when information technology launches information technology says information technology tin can't determine my location. Thank you, Frank

I'm still unable to go past the location prompt.
Yes you volition still have v.vi.2.0. Before a reset, articulate the information of and uninstall the four APKs then reset. Install the APKs from the guide linked in my OP. Install them as is and practise non download the updated versions. Make sure location services are on before installation.
Worked for getting my location on other apps. Thanks

I as well just got a Fire HD ten and installed the 4 google apks earlier seeing this thread. I'grand also not rooted. Yet, all I needed to practice to go GPS to work was to turn the Burn Os Location Based Services toggle off. (Settings-Wireless-Location Based Services).
